What does a session look like?
It depends on age, interests and goals.
Family and sibling sessions are flexible and guided by the needs of the family that day.
Families with younger children may engage in musical games, shared play, and movement.
Families with older children may explore songwriting, song discussion, or listening experiences.
Each family member is invited to participate in the way that feels most comfortable — at their own pace.
Our Approach
-
We view neurological differences as a natural part of human diversity, not something to be fixed. Our work prioritizes regulation, autonomy, and quality of life without asking people to mask or change who they are.
-
We recognize that past experiences can shape how someone feels, responds, and engages in therapy. Our approach emphasizes safety, choice, predictability, and pacing that supports trust and nervous system regulation.
-
Each session is shaped around the client’s goals, strengths, and comfort level. We collaborate closely with clients and families and adapt as needs change, rather than following a rigid model.
-
We believe healing happens in relationship. Our work supports not only individuals, but also families, caregivers, and communities, helping people feel connected and supported beyond the therapy room.

Sibling & Family Therapy FAQ
-
Not at all. No musical background or skill is needed. Music is simply the tool—we meet you where you are.
-
Music therapists are trained, credentialed healthcare professionals, but music therapy is a distinct discipline from counseling. Board-Certified Music Therapists (MT-BCs) are not the same as MSWs or LPCs. Music therapists use music-based experiences alongside therapeutic skills to support regulation, processing, and emotional expression in ways that don’t rely solely on talk.
-
Not always. During the initial assessment, we’ll create a plan together that clarifies who will participate and what we’ll focus on. From there, we’ll communicate clearly about who is needed in sessions and when.
-
Yes. We regularly work with families who have a child or family member with a disability and understand how those needs can shape family dynamics.
-
Not exactly. Music therapy uses music and creative experiences to support expression, regulation, and connection — without relying on conversation alone.
